Blueprints & Plan Review
Section Description

The Plainville Fire Department shall receive three (3) sets of professionally drawn blueprints prior to any building permits being issued by the Plainville Building Inspector or his designee.

All blueprints will have a complete and appropriate legend.

All blueprints will be drawn to scale.

Blueprints are accepted and stamped "subject to final approval" by the authority having jurisdiction. The authority having jurisdiction assumes no responsibility for items omitted on the blueprints but required by this document or any other applicable codes. "Final approval" is given only after completion of all aspects of this agreement and is signified by the signing off on the Fire Department section of the building permit. Fees are listed in the Plainville Fire Department approved fees schedule in Appendix "A".

All blueprints for sprinklers in buildings will include a point to point diagram and a complete riser diagram. The building will have one hundred percent (100%) protection. Sprinklered buildings will also have a heat/smoke detector system installed.

On request, all pertinent information regarding the reliability and operation of the equipment to be installed shall be provided to the Chief of Fire Operations or his designee.

All devices on the blueprints will be sequentially numbered in order to simplify discussions and inspections.

All flow switches, tamper switches and post indicator valves will be tied into the municipal system.

Each fire alarm system within the building will have its own zone card.

If any attempt is made to substitute the brand of equipment specified, it shall be the contractors obligation to submit the data and information to allow the specifying engineer time to consider the equality of the substituted items. It shall be at the risk of the contractor until the date of final acceptance by the Chief of the Plainville Fire Department or his designee have completely accepted the substitutes item(s). All cost for removal, relocation or replacement of a substituted item shall be at the risk of the contractor.

Plans submitted for approval must be accompanied by a side letter stating that plans and specifications meet all state building codes, all applicable NFPA standards, 527 CMR's, Chapter 148 and Massachusetts electric codes as well as the Plainville Fire Department requirements. Plans must be stamped by a Fire Protection engineer.
2-12
No installation or modification shall be permitted until a permit to install has been returned to the owner's representatives from the authority having jurisdiction. All revised plan(s) shall follow the above requirements.
