The following rules and regulations shall govern the installation, modification and
maintenance of all fire alarm and sprinkler/standpipe systems in the Town of Plainville,
Massachusetts. |

These rules and regulations should not be construed to be complete but only as a guide. All
questions regarding fire protective systems shall be resolved with the authority having
jurisdiction before proceeding with the installation. |

The authority having jurisdiction for the purpose of this document, shall be the Chief of the
Plainville Fire Department, or his designee. |

A one hundred dollar ($100.00) fee for the connection of auxiliary systems to the municipal fire
alarm system of the Town of Plainville shall be established by the Fire Chief and approved by the
Board of Selectmen of the Town of Plainville. |

When this regulation and other referenced regulations differ, this regulation shall take
precedence. |

It shall be the responsibility of each licensed contractor to familiarize themselves with the
current requirements of the Plainville Fire Department. |

The installation or modification of all approved fire protective systems shall begin within six (6)
months of the issuance of a permit, plan approval or notification by the authority having
jurisdiction. All Fire Department approvals expire after six (6) months of inactivity. |

It is the owner's financial responsibility to insure proper Fire and Police Department radio
reception and transmission in his/her structure. |
| 1- 9 |
All structures in the Town of Plainville must be clearly marked with numbers in clear view to all
emergency personnel. The numbers must be at least four inches (4") in height. |

The Fire Chief for the Town of Plainville may reserve the right to disconnect the service to the
master box at any time, in cases of system trouble which might endanger the proper operation of the
Town of Plainville fire alarm system. The owner will be notified of any disconnections. It will be
the owner's responsibility to notify his/her insurance company. |

Building and floor plans shall be submitted to the Plainville Fire Department for approval prior to
the installation of the equipment or wiring. The location of equipment used will be stamped by the
Plainville Fire Department and the type of wire used will be approved by the Plainville Fire
Department. The Plainville Fire Department will stamp three (3) sets of plans for only one (1) fire
protective system design per building. One set for each of the following: Building Inspector, Fire
Department and Contractor. |

All equipment connections shall comply with NFPA. After authority having jurisdiction approval. |

All wiring and devices shall meet the requirements of the Plainville Fire Department and the
Massachusetts Electrical Code. |
| 1-14 |
Prior to making the final inspection and before occupancy, a contract must be in evidence between the building
owner and a fire alarm maintenance company approved by the Chief of the Plainville Fire Department. The fire alarm
maintenance contract must also include the sprinkler system if one is present at the protected property. It is the
responsibility of all future owners to supply the Plainville Fire Department with current testing and emergency
service contracts as required by code. |

All installations and component parts thereto shall be approved by the Chief of the Plainville Fire Department or his designee.
All equipment shall be U.L. and/or F.M. listed devices. All equipment except master box will be new. Rebuilt master boxes may be
used. |

All permit requirements of CMR 527 Section 1 shall be adhered to and become a part of this requirement. |

The Chief of the Plainville Fire Department reserves the right to amend, alter, delete or add to these requirements at any
time. |
